About

This dataset provides daily weather information for New York City throughout the year 2019. Initially collected for the "Big Data Derby 2022" challenge, its primary purpose was to support analyses related to how weather conditions, such as temperature, snowfall, and precipitation, can influence factors like horse performance. Beyond the challenge, it serves as a valuable resource for general weather research and climate analysis.

Columns

  • date: The specific day of the recorded weather data, presented in DD/MM/YYYY format.
  • tmax: The maximum temperature recorded for that day, measured in degrees Fahrenheit (°F).
  • tmin: The minimum temperature recorded for that day, measured in degrees Fahrenheit (°F).
  • tavg: The average temperature calculated for that day, measured in degrees Fahrenheit (°F).
  • departure: The deviation of the day's average temperature from the normal temperature for that specific date, measured in degrees Fahrenheit (°F).
  • HDD: Heating Degree Days, a measure used to quantify the demand for heating energy on a particular day.
  • CDD: Cooling Degree Days, a measure used to quantify the demand for cooling energy on a particular day.
  • precipitation: The amount of precipitation recorded in inches. A value of 'T' indicates a trace amount of precipitation.
  • new_snow: The depth of new snowfall recorded in inches. A value of 'T' indicates a trace amount of new snow.
  • snow_depth: The total depth of snow on the ground in inches. A value of 'T' indicates a trace amount of snow depth.
