About
This dataset offers a detailed analysis of average IQ scores across various countries for the year 2022. It compiles data from over 1.5 million test results globally, providing valuable insights into national intelligence levels. The information can serve as an indicator for understanding a population's capacity to learn, comprehend, form concepts, process information, and apply logic and reason. Furthermore, it highlights potential influences on societal characteristics, such as social interaction patterns (e.g., isolation or rejection) and intellectual engagement (e.g., ease or difficulties in academic pursuits). The dataset can also shed light on factors contributing to individual successes. It is important to note that countries with insufficient data were excluded from this study.
Columns
- Ranking: Represents the country's position in the dataset, ordered from 1 to 125.
- Country: Contains the name of the respective country. One country name is missing from the 125 entries.
- Average IQ: Displays the calculated mean IQ score for each country, with values ranging from 86 to 108. The overall mean average IQ is 95.8.
- Participants: Shows the total number of individuals from each country whose IQ test results contributed to the average, with figures varying between 209 and 190,000.
Distribution
The dataset is supplied as a CSV file, named "International_IQ.csv", and has a file size of 3.19 kB. It is structured with 4 columns and contains 125 distinct entries, each representing a country's IQ average.
Usage
This dataset is ideally suited for:
- Global Comparative Analysis: Investigating and comparing average intelligence levels across different nations.
- Sociological Research: Exploring potential correlations between national IQ scores and societal behaviours, such as social integration or intellectual engagement.
- Educational Planning: Informing strategies related to national education systems and learning capabilities.
- Policy Development: Guiding public policy discussions on cognitive abilities and their broader implications.
- Data Visualisation: Creating informative maps and charts illustrating global IQ distributions.
Coverage
The dataset encompasses 125 countries worldwide, focusing specifically on data collected during the year 2022. It is based on a substantial sample size of 1,565,983 test results from individuals globally. Countries that appeared in grey on the original map were not included due to a lack of sufficient data. An interesting observation is that only 33 of the 125 countries recorded an average IQ score above 99, largely influenced by China's average score of 106.59 and its considerable population.
