  • Region: The province or political region where the structure is situated. Yunnan and Sichuan are among the most frequently listed provinces.
  • Second Province: Details the bordering province, used for simplification when counting dams across provincial lines. Note that information in this column is mostly missing (94% null).
  • Impounds: Identifies the river or reservoir upon which the dam is constructed, such as the Yellow River or Jinsha River.
  • Height: The vertical dimension of the structure, quantified in meters. Heights range significantly, with a mean around 133 meters.
  • Type: Categorises the structure based on its primary design, such as Gravity, Arch, or Concrete-face rock-fill.
  • Storage Capacity: Represents the maximum volume of water the reservoir can hold, measured in million cubic meters.
  • Year of completion: The year the dam structure was fully built. The year 2008 appears frequently in this data.
