About

Benchmark results data are provided for various DDR4 memory models. This collection of data is essential for comparing multiple RAM kits by evaluating their performance based on a standardised series of tests. It is particularly useful for individuals engaged in purchasing components for or assembling a new personal computer. An enhanced version of this data collection is noted as being available separately.

Columns

  • Memory Name: The specific name of the memory product, featuring 4,264 unique identified values.
  • Model: The model associated with the memory product, featuring 4,264 unique identified values.
  • Generation: Identifies the memory type; all records currently indicate DDR4 SDRAM.
  • Latency (ns): Measures the Latency Time in nanoseconds, where lower values signify superior performance. The mean latency is approximately 34.4 ns, with observed values ranging up to 374 ns.
  • Read Uncached (GB/s): Represents the Read Uncached Transfer Rate in gigabytes per second, where higher values indicate better performance. The mean transfer rate is 16.1 GB/s, with a maximum recorded rate of 26.4 GB/s.
  • Write (GB/s): Represents the Write Transfer Rate in gigabytes per second, where higher values indicate better performance. The mean transfer rate is 12 GB/s, with a maximum recorded rate of 22.2 GB/s.
  • Price (USD): The Current Market Price, specified in United States Dollars. Note that 85% of records are missing price data; the mean price for available records is $244, ranging up to $1,000.

Distribution

The data is contained within a CSV file named DDR4_RAM_benchmark_v3.csv, which is 242.73 kB in size and structured across 6 columns. There are 4,264 records detailing various memory models. This data collection is not expected to receive future updates.

Usage

This data product is suited for:
  • Supporting decision-making processes when upgrading or building PC hardware.
  • Performing model comparisons and identifying performance leaders among RAM kits.
  • Conducting regression analysis based on memory performance metrics.
  • Developing applications related to hardware ratings and reviews.

Coverage

The data contains the newest available benchmarks captured as of May 3rd, 2022. The scope is focused strictly on DDR4 SDRAM memory models.
