About
Meteorological observations from across Ireland are captured in this hourly time-series collection, derived from 24 Met Éireann weather stations. Spanning from late 2007 to early 2022, the records facilitate advanced rainfall forecasting, climate modelling, and numerical weather prediction research. Beyond meteorological applications, these historical insights support urban planning and data analysis projects regarding how weather conditions influence city life, including pedestrian footfall, road safety, and transport services.

Distribution
The data is structured in Tabular format (CSV). The collection includes an aggregated file combining data from all 24 stations, as well as a folder containing individual CSV files for each station. The aggregated timespan covers 31 December 2007 to 01 February 2022. A separate file lists station metadata. The distinct values for 'Station name' confirm 24 unique recording locations.
Usage
- Rainfall Forecasting: Training Machine Learning and Deep Learning models (such as LSTM or Multi-Layer Perceptron) to predict precipitation probabilities.
- Climate Pattern Analysis: Investigating seasonal weather trends and distinct patterns across different Irish counties.
- Urban Impact Studies: Correlating weather metrics with pedestrian traffic, bike-share usage, and road accident statistics.
- Numerical Weather Prediction: Researching short-term atmospheric changes and model accuracy using historical ground-truth data.
Coverage
- Geographic: Ireland (Republic of Ireland), specifically covering 24 distinct Met Éireann stations situated in counties such as Cork, Mayo, and others (e.g., Phoenix Park).
- Time Range: Historical hourly data from 31 December 2007 to 01 February 2022. Note that the start date for individual station files varies based on when the station opened.
- Demographic: N/A (Environmental data).
