About

The Global Food Security Index (GFSI), designed and constructed by Economist Impact and supported by Corteva Agriscience, provides a rigorous evaluation of food security across 113 countries. This 11th edition model considers year-on-year changes in structural factors impacting the global food supply. The data enables an in-depth exploration of the challenges and solutions surrounding food security by measuring four key pillars: affordability, availability, quality and safety, and sustainability and adaptation. The index serves as a quantitative tool to assess national capacities to disseminate food, vulnerability to price shocks, and exposure to climate-related risks.

Columns

  • Index No: The numerical rank or label identifier for the record.
  • Countries ranks as per their Performance: The comparative ranking of the country based on the total score.
  • Country Name: The name of the specific nation being evaluated (113 unique values).
  • Combine Score: The aggregate score derived from all measured parameters (Mean: 56.5).
  • Affordability: Measures the ability of consumers to purchase food, vulnerability to price shocks, and the presence of support programmes.
  • Availability: Assesses agricultural production, on-farm capabilities, supply disruption risks, and national capacity to disseminate food.
  • Quality and Safety: Evaluates the variety and nutritional quality of average diets, as well as food safety standards.
  • Sustainability and Adaptation: Assesses exposure to climate change impacts, susceptibility to natural resource risks, and adaptation strategies.
