About

This dataset provides historical market data for Bitcoin, the pioneering and most widely recognised cryptocurrency, initially released as open-source in 2009. Bitcoin functions as a decentralised digital exchange medium, with all transactions verified and immutably recorded in a public distributed ledger, known as the blockchain, without reliance on a central authority. The data captures the growth of Bitcoin trading and associated financial instruments, offering granular 1-minute interval updates from various select exchanges.

Columns

  • Timestamp: The start time for each 60-second time window, presented in Unix time.
  • Open: The opening price of Bitcoin at the beginning of the respective time window. Values range from 3.8 to 112,000, with an average of 18,600 and a standard deviation of 26,000.
  • High: The highest price recorded within the specified time window. Similar to the opening price, values span from 3.8 to 112,000, averaging 18,600 with a standard deviation of 26,000.
  • Low: The lowest price observed during the given time window. Prices range from 3.8 to 112,000, also with an average of 18,600 and a standard deviation of 26,000.
  • Close: The closing price of Bitcoin at the end of the time window. The range for closing prices is from 3.8 to 112,000, with an average of 18,600 and a standard deviation of 26,000.
  • Volume: The total volume of Bitcoin transacted within the time window. Volume figures range from 0 to 5,850 BTC, with a mean of 5.24 and a standard deviation of 22.4.

Distribution

The dataset is provided in CSV file format and contains minute-to-minute updates for OHLC (Open, High, Low, Close) and Volume in BTC. The btcusd_1-min_data.csv file has a size of 371.43 MB. There are approximately 7.11 million valid records for each column. Please note that missing timestamps or data jumps may occur if an exchange or its API was unavailable, or due to other technical data reporting issues. Efforts have been made to remove duplicate entries and verify the content's accuracy.
