As the information is transcribed from original paper reports, users should be aware that some minor inaccuracies may exist within the records. To protect individual privacy, sensitive address fields are generalised to the nearest hundred block.

- DR_NO: The unique Crime Number assigned to the incident.
- Date_Reported: The date when the crime was reported to the authorities.
- Date_occured: The actual date on which the incident occurred.
- Time_occured: The time of day (in military time format, 24-hour clock) when the incident occurred.
- Area: The specific LAPD area where the crime took place.
- Crime_Code: The classification or type of crime committed, with examples being VEHICLE - STOLEN and BATTERY - SIMPLE ASSAULT.
- Victim_age: The age of the victim, which can range from -4 to 120.
- Victim_sex: The recorded gender of the victim (M, F, or Other). Approximately 14% of these records are missing.
- Victim_descent: The ethnic descent of the victim, such as H (Hispanic) or W (White). Approximately 14% of these records are missing.
- Premis: The type of location or premise where the crime occurred, commonly being STREET or SINGLE FAMILY DWELLING.
- Weapon: Details regarding the weapon used in the incident. Note that 67% of these records indicate no weapon was used or the field is null.
- Status: The current status of the criminal investigation, with "Invest Cont" (Investigation Continued) being the most frequent status (80%).
- LOCATION: The physical address detail of the crime, generalised for privacy.
- LAT: Latitude coordinate.
- LON: Longitude coordinate.
