About

Up-to-date global information on COVID-19 vaccination efforts. It tracks the progress of vaccine administration across various countries and regions, providing crucial insights into the worldwide response to the pandemic. The data is regularly collected and updated daily, making it a current resource for monitoring vaccination coverage and rates. It serves to illuminate the evolving landscape of public health interventions and their impact on populations globally.

Columns

  • location: The name of the country or a specific region within a country.
  • iso_code: The three-letter ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country code for each location.
  • date: The specific date of the observation for the vaccination data.
  • total_vaccinations: The cumulative number of vaccine doses that have been administered. This metric counts each dose given, so it may not represent the total number of unique individuals vaccinated, especially for multi-dose regimes.
  • total_vaccinations_per_hundred: The total number of vaccination doses administered per 100 people within the country's overall population.
  • daily_vaccinations_raw: The raw, daily change in the total number of administered doses. This figure is calculated only for consecutive days and is provided for transparency and data verification.
  • daily_vaccinations: The new doses administered per day, presented as a 7-day smoothed average. For countries that do not report daily, doses are assumed to be equally distributed over periods without reported data to create a continuous series.
  • daily_vaccinations_per_million: The daily vaccinations per 1,000,000 people in the country's total population.
  • people_vaccinated: The total number of individuals who have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
  • people_vaccinated_per_hundred: The number of individuals who have received at least one vaccine dose per 100 people in the country's population.
  • people_fully_vaccinated: The total number of individuals who have completed the full vaccination protocol, having received all prescribed doses.
  • people_fully_vaccinated_per_hundred: The number of individuals who are fully vaccinated per 100 people in the country's population.
  • total_boosters: The total number of booster doses administered.
  • total_boosters_per_hundred: The total number of booster doses administered per 100 people.
  • daily_people_vaccinated: The daily change in the total number of people who have received at least one vaccine dose.
  • daily_people_vaccinated_per_hundred: The daily change in the total number of people who have received at least one vaccine dose, per 100 people.

Distribution

The dataset is provided as a single CSV file, vaccinations.csv, which is approximately 14.29 MB in size. It contains around 195,000 records of vaccination data. The dataset's structure ensures daily updates, reflecting the ongoing nature of global vaccination efforts.

Usage

This dataset is well-suited for a variety of analytical applications. It can be used for statistical analysis over time to observe trends in vaccination rates, for example, comparing different countries or tracking the speed of vaccine rollout. It also lends itself to monitoring the progress of global vaccination campaigns, studying the efficacy of public health policies, and generating reports on the pandemic's impact on communities.

Coverage

The data spans a global geographic scope, encompassing 235 unique countries and regions worldwide. The time range for the observations begins on 2 December 2020 and extends through to 15 June 2024. Demographic scope is addressed through metrics presented per hundred or per million inhabitants, offering population-adjusted views of vaccination status. It is important to note that metrics such as 'people_vaccinated' and 'people_fully_vaccinated' may not be available for all countries, depending on the availability of underlying data.
