Distribution

The dataset is provided in a CSV file format, specifically combined_processed_data.csv, and has a size of 1.59 MB. It is structured as tabular data, with each record representing suicide statistics. The dataset contains 9538 records. The data was processed from raw mortality figures initially categorised by gender and various age groups.

Usage

This dataset is ideal for:
  • Data Analytics: Performing in-depth analysis of suicide trends over time and across different demographics.
  • Exploratory Data Analysis: Identifying patterns, anomalies, and key drivers in global suicide rates.
  • Mental Health Research: Studying the prevalence and factors associated with suicide, aiding in the development of targeted interventions.
  • Mortality Studies: Examining cause-specific mortality, particularly self-inflicted injuries, as part of broader public health research.
  • Public Health Policy: Informing policy decisions and resource allocation for suicide prevention programmes.

Coverage

The dataset covers suicide statistics for 118 countries worldwide, with regional distributions including Europe and Central and South America. The time range spans from 1950 to 2021, although data for more recent years may have some incompleteness.
