About

This small-scale public health dataset tracks the interaction between daily vaccination administration (first doses and full coverage) and essential epidemiological indicators in France. It provides specific metrics related to infection rates, viral reproduction numbers, and hospital capacity strain, enabling detailed analysis of the sanitary crisis evolution. The original intent behind compiling this information was to highlight the global importance of achieving high vaccination rates. Please note that all information is presented for display purposes only and should not be used for investment decisions or financial transactions.

Columns

  • extract_date: The date corresponding to the row's data, formatted as dd/mm/yyyy.
  • tx_incid: The incidence rate, which is the number of first-time positive tests (RT-PCR and antigen) in over 60 days relative to the population size. It is expressed per 100,000 inhabitants.
  • R: The virus reproduction number. If R is greater than 1, the epidemic is developing; if it is less than 1, the epidemic is receding. This indicator is updated weekly and reflects the epidemiological situation approximately seven days prior.
  • taux_occupation_sae (%): The proportion of COVID-19 patients currently requiring intensive care, intensive monitoring, or continuous monitoring compared to the total initial capacity of resuscitation beds in hospitals.
  • tx_pos: The positivity rate, calculated as the number of first-time positive tests (over 60 days) against the total number of people tested (positive or negative) who have not tested positive in the previous 60 days.
  • n_dose1: The number of first vaccine doses administered on that specific day.
  • n_complet: The number of full coverages granted on that specific day (e.g., 1 dose for J&J, 2 doses for others, or 1 dose if the person previously had COVID-19).
  • n_cum_dose1: The cumulative total number of first doses administered up to that date.
  • n_cum_complet: The cumulative total number of complete coverages granted up to that date.

Distribution

The data file is typically found in CSV format and has a file size of approximately 19.82 kB. It consists of 9 distinct features (columns) and contains 234 valid records or rows. Data quality appears robust, with all records having a value for the date and the majority of indicators.

Usage

  • Epidemiological modelling and forecasting of disease spread based on vaccination coverage.
  • Analysis of how the virus reproduction number (R) responds to increased first dose and full coverage rates.
  • Tracking and visualising the level of hospital stress (SAE occupation percentage) over time.
  • Historical analysis of France’s public health response to the pandemic crisis.

Coverage

The geographical scope of the data is France. The time range covers 234 distinct days, beginning around 27 December 2020. The indicators represent national or regional averages suitable for macro-level comparison. Data updates are not expected for this file, as its expected frequency is 'Never'.

Who Can Use It

  • Public Health Researchers: To validate models concerning vaccine efficacy against transmission indicators like R and incidence rates.
  • Data Scientists and Analysts: For time series analysis correlating daily vaccinations with subsequent changes in positivity and hospital capacity.
  • Policy Evaluators: To assess the historical impact of vaccination rollout strategies on various health metrics in the French context.
