Columns
This product contains eight descriptive columns:
- University: Lists the formal names of the institutions included in the data set. There are 161 valid entries and 160 unique names.
- Acronym: Provides the short-form abbreviations for the universities. This column holds 144 unique acronyms.
- Established: Gives the specific year in which the university was founded. Dates range from 1921 to 2021, with a mean establishment year around 2001.
- Location: Specifies the precise geographical location of the university. Dhaka is the most frequently occurring location, accounting for 40% of the entries.
- Division: Categorises the universities based on their administrative divisions within Bangladesh. Dhaka Division is the most common, accounting for 40% of records.
- Specialization: Identifies the primary fields of study associated with each university. ‘General’ specialization is the most frequent category, representing 61% of the institutions.
- Type: Classifies each institution according to its status as either public (35%) or private (65%).
- Ph.D. granting: A Boolean field indicating whether the university offers doctoral programmes or not. Currently, 47 entries are marked as true (29%).
