This collection contains video metadata for the official Kaggle YouTube Channel. The information was gathered using YouTube Data Tools and includes details on all videos released by the channel starting from 2018. The dataset is designed to allow researchers and analysts to measure the impact of videos based on engagement metrics and determine if specific subjects, as derived from video descriptions, generate higher viewer interest. Columns
The dataset contains 20 columns of data detailing video attributes and performance metrics:
- position: The sequential position count of the video.
- channel_id: The unique identifier for the Kaggle channel.
- channel_title: The title of the YouTube channel, which is always "Kaggle".
- video_id: The unique identifier for each video.
- published_at: The date and time the video was published.
- video_title: The title of the video (313 unique titles are present).
- video_description: The textual description accompanying the video.
- video_category_id: The numerical category identifier, consistently 28 for all records.
- video_category_label: The category name, labelled as "Science & Technology".
- duration: The duration of the video in minutes and seconds (ISO 8601 format).
- duration_sec: The video duration expressed in total seconds.
- dimension: The video dimension, recorded as '2d' for all entries.
- definition: The video quality definition; 99% are high definition (hd).
- caption: A Boolean flag indicating if captions are available (3% are marked true).
- licensed_content: A flag for licensed content, which is 100% missing/null in this collection.
- view_count: A reach metric detailing the number of views (average is 5.22k).
- like_count: A reach metric detailing the number of likes (average is 96.9).
- dislike_count: A reach metric detailing the number of dislikes (average is 2.03).
- favorite_count: A reach metric detailing the number of favorites (always 0).
- comment_count: A reach metric detailing the number of comments (average is 4.09).
Distribution
The data is provided in a single CSV file,
kaggle_channel_meta.csv, and has a size of 727.8 kB. It features 20 columns and 316 valid records for core metadata fields such as video identifiers and publication dates.Usage
This dataset is ideal for analysing the effectiveness of video content by studying view, like, dislike, and comment counts.
