About

Focuses on analytics derived from ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) channels operating on YouTube. This data product was initially created out of a personal interest in how ASMR videos can aid in relaxation and language practice. It provides key metrics for analysing the scale and performance of the global ASMR community on the platform. The data is highly relevant for understanding social network trends, audience reach, and specific content performance indicators within this rapidly growing niche of digital entertainment.

Usage

This product is ideal for quantitative analysis of social media growth and performance metrics, specifically within the Arts and Entertainment category. Potential applications include tracking channel growth rates over time, benchmarking individual channel performance against the mean (for example, comparing the mean view count of 43.2 million or mean subscriber count of 174 thousand), and identifying global trends in ASMR content creation. It can also support research into content volume strategies, given that the number of videos per channel ranges up to 3342.

Coverage

The channels included in the dataset span a wide creation period, ranging from March 1, 2007, through to January 11, 2023. The average channel creation date falls around September 22, 2019. The geographic scope is worldwide, encompassing 64 unique country codes, though country information is unavailable for 45% of the channels. Among the identified locations, the United States is the most frequently cited country. The analysed channels possess a diverse audience size, with the largest having accumulated nearly 7 billion views and up to 18.8 million subscribers.
