Details posts filtered by the high-frequency hashtag #Ethereum. This collection of social media data was generated using the Twitter API, with a query run on a daily basis to ensure a large number of samples are gathered. The purpose of the data is to allow researchers and analysts to delve into trending subjects, geographical interest, and sentiment evaluation related to this significant cryptocurrency. Data collection commenced on 1 January 2021.
Columns
The dataset includes 13 distinct columns, providing detailed user and post information:
- user_name: The display name of the user who posted the tweet.
- user_location: The geographical location specified by the user (note: approximately 50% of this data is missing).
- user_description: The bio or profile description of the user.
- user_created: The date and time the user account was created.
- user_followers: The total count of followers for the user.
- user_friends: The number of accounts the user is following.
- user_favourites: The number of likes/favourites accumulated by the user.
- user_verified: Indicates whether the user account is verified (in this sample, 100% are recorded as False).
- date: The timestamp of the tweet.
- text: The full body of the tweet itself.
- hashtags: A list of hashtags included in the post (approximately 25% of entries are missing hashtag data).
- source: The platform or application used to post the tweet (e.g., Twitter Web App, Twitter for Android).
- is_retweet: A Boolean indicator showing if the post is a retweet (all 10,000 records in this initial sample are False).
Distribution
The dataset is currently provided in CSV file format, under the filename
Ethereum_tweets.csv. The file size is approximately 4.4 MB. The initial sample contains 10,000 validated records. Expected updates to this data product are planned on a quarterly basis.Usage

Coverage
The data collection period began on 1 January 2021 and covers activity from that point forward. The scope is global, encompassing publicly posted tweets matching the specific hashtag. While the data includes fields for geographical analysis (
