About
This dataset provides insights into countries experiencing ongoing conflicts and offers estimates of fatalities resulting from these conflicts between 1989 and 2022. It serves as a valuable resource for understanding the global landscape of conflict and its human toll. The data helps in analysing whether more or fewer people are dying from war over time, relying on carefully collected statistics for historical comparison. While every war is a tragedy, the data indicates a decline in conflict-related deaths in recent decades compared to most of the 20th century, suggesting more peaceful relations. However, recent increases in conflict deaths in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe highlight the uncertain nature of these trends. The dataset contributes to understanding the impact of conflicts on human lives, living standards, and the environment.
