This dataset provides open data on Airbnb listings and key metrics across various regions in the United States. Since its inception in 2008, Airbnb has significantly transformed the traditional hospitality industry, offering travellers a more unique and personalised accommodation experience. This dataset was originally compiled for a project on 20th October 2020 and was recompiled and updated in the same format on 14th April 2023. It aims to offer insights into the U.S. short-term rental market.
Columns
The dataset comprises a single file,
AB_US_2023.csv, with 17 columns describing various features of Airbnb listings:- id: A unique identifier for each listing.
- name: The name given to the listing.
- host_id: A unique identifier for the host of the listing.
- host_name: The name of the host.
- neighbourhood_group: The group or larger area in which the neighbourhood is located. Note that approximately 51% of values in this column are null.
- neighbourhood: The specific neighbourhood where the listing is situated.
- latitude: The geographical latitude coordinate of the listing.
- longitude: The geographical longitude coordinate of the listing.
- room_type: Specifies the type of room available, such as 'Entire home/apt', 'Private room', 'Shared room', or 'Hotel room'. 'Entire home/apt' accounts for 68% of listings, and 'Private room' for 29%.
- price: The price of the listing per night. Prices range from 0 to 25,000, with a mean of 220.
- minimum_nights: The minimum number of nights required for a booking.
- number_of_reviews: The total count of reviews a listing has received. The mean is 34.5 reviews per listing.
- last_review: The date of the last review received by the listing. Approximately 22% of values in this column are missing.
- reviews_per_month: The average number of reviews a listing receives per month. Approximately 22% of values in this column are missing.
- calculated_host_listings_count: The total number of listings managed by the host.
- availability_365: The number of days in a year the listing is available for rent.
- city: The city or region where the listing is located. 'New York City' accounts for 20% of listings, and 'Los Angeles' for 14%.
Distribution
This dataset is provided as a single CSV file,
AB_US_2023.csv. It contains approximately 226,000 records and 17 distinct columns. The 2020 version of the dataset was 36.08 MB.Usage
