About

This dataset presents the World Happiness Report 2019, a significant survey that ranks 156 countries based on how happy their citizens perceive themselves to be. The report delves into how happiness has evolved over the past twelve years, focusing on the influence of technologies, social norms, conflicts, and government policies. The data was released by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and collected via PromptCloud's custom web crawling solution. It includes six key variables broadly recognised in research literature for explaining national-level differences in life evaluations. An imaginative country named Dystopia is used as a benchmark, representing the world's least happy people with the lowest scores across these six key variables, ensuring all other countries compare favourably. The dataset also includes residuals, which represent the unexplained components of life evaluations, indicating how much the six variables either over- or under-explain the average 2016-2018 life evaluations for each country.
