About

Explore a rich collection of anime data from the past decade, covering Summer, Winter, and Spring seasons. This dataset, scraped from MyAnimeList, provides detailed information on thousands of anime titles, making it an invaluable resource for analysis, recommendation systems, and tracking trends in the anime industry. It is designed to be updated monthly, ensuring the information remains current.

Columns

  • Anime: The title of the anime series.
  • Genre: The genre or genres associated with the anime.
  • Description: A synopsis or brief summary of the anime's plot.
  • Studio: The animation studio responsible for the anime's production.
  • Year: The release date of the anime.
  • Rating: A star-based rating, typically out of 10.

Distribution

The dataset is provided as a single CSV file named AnimeWorld.csv with a size of 2.28 MB. It contains 2981 records and 6 columns. While most columns are complete, the 'Studio' column has approximately 3% missing values, and the 'Rating' column has a significant number of missing values, with data present for only 9% of the entries.

Usage

This dataset is ideal for building machine learning models, particularly recommendation systems for anime enthusiasts. It can also be used for exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover trends in anime genres, studio popularity, and ratings over time. The GitHub repository linked provides examples of how the data can be used.

Coverage

The data spans a wide time range, with the earliest entry from October 1969 and the most recent from August 2022. The bulk of the records, however, fall between 2006 and 2022. It primarily covers anime data without specific geographical or demographic limitations, sourced from the MyAnimeList website.
