About
This dataset offers monthly food price inflation estimates by product, market, and countries. Its primary purpose is to provide insight into price developments that might extend beyond what is formally measured by traditional methods. Traditional sources of consumer prices are often produced with delay during crises and only at an aggregate level, which may not accurately reflect actual price trends in rural or poverty-stricken areas where large populations reside in fragile situations. This dataset aims to address that gap by offering more timely and granular data.
Columns
- Monthly food price estimate (open): The opening estimated value for food prices in a given month.
- Monthly food price estimate (high): The highest estimated value for food prices within a month.
- Monthly food price estimate (low): The lowest estimated value for food prices within a month.
- Monthly food price estimate (close): The closing estimated value for food prices in a given month.
- Inflation: The calculated monthly estimate of food price inflation.
- country: The name of the specific country to which the food price estimate applies.
- ISO3: The standardised three-letter code representing the country.
- date: The specific date of the estimate, presented in a month/day/year format.
