This data spans from 2003 to 2019 and is sourced from the City of Vancouver's open data catalogue. Columns

  • TYPE: The category of the recorded crime incident. There are 11 unique crime types.
  • YEAR: The year the crime was recorded, ranging from 2003 to 2019.
  • MONTH: The month the crime was recorded, numbered 1 through 12.
  • DAY: The day of the month the crime was recorded, numbered 1 through 31.
  • HOUR: The hour of the day the crime was recorded, in 24-hour format from 0 to 23.
  • MINUTE: The minute of the hour the crime was recorded, from 0 to 59.
  • HUNDRED_BLOCK: The recorded hundred-block of the street where the incident occurred. This data is offset to protect privacy.
  • NEIGHBOURHOOD: The specific neighbourhood where the incident was recorded. There are 24 unique neighbourhoods listed.
  • X: The GPS longitude coordinate for the incident's location.
  • Y: The GPS latitude coordinate for the incident's location.

Distribution

The data is provided in a CSV file (crime_records.csv) with a size of 59.37 MB. It contains approximately 624,000 records across 10 columns.
