About

the various factors influencing life expectancy, this dataset spans 193 countries and moves beyond typical demographic and economic indicators. It delves into the impact of immunisation, health expenditure, schooling, and other social and economic variables to identify the most significant predictors of lifespan. The data, sourced from the World Health Organization and the United Nations, has been meticulously cleaned and processed to ensure there are no missing values, making it ready for analysis. The purpose is to provide insights that can help countries prioritise interventions to improve population health and longevity.

Columns

  • Country: Name of the country.
  • Year: The year of the observation, scaled from the original range of 2000-2015.
  • Status: Scaled development status of the country (e.g., Developed or Developing).
  • Life expectancy: The life expectancy at birth, presented in a scaled format.
  • Adult Mortality: Scaled adult mortality rates for both sexes, representing the probability of dying between 15 and 60 years per 1000 population.
  • infant deaths: Scaled number of infant deaths per 1000 population.
  • Alcohol: Scaled per capita alcohol consumption in litres of pure alcohol for individuals aged 15 and over.
  • percentage expenditure: Healthcare expenditure as a percentage of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita, presented in a scaled format.
  • Hepatitis B: Scaled immunisation coverage for Hepatitis B among 1-year-olds (%).
  • Measles: Scaled number of reported measles cases per 1000 people.
  • BMI: Scaled average Body Mass Index (BMI) of the entire population.
  • under-five deaths: Scaled number of deaths of children under five years of age per 1000 population.
  • Polio: Polio immunisation coverage among 1-year-olds (%).
  • Total expenditure: Scaled general government expenditure on health as a percentage of total government expenditure.
  • Diphtheria: Scaled Diphtheria, Tetanus Toxoid, and Pertussis (DTP3) immunisation coverage among 1-year-olds (%).
  • HIV/AIDS: Scaled deaths per 1000 live births due to HIV/AIDS.
  • GDP: Scaled Gross Domestic Product per capita in US Dollars.
  • Population: Scaled total population of the country.
  • thinness 1-19 years: Scaled prevalence of thinness among children and adolescents aged 10-19 years (%).

Distribution

The dataset is provided as a single CSV file (Cleaned-Life-Exp.csv) with a size of 1.25 MB. It contains 2,938 rows and 22 columns, with no missing values.

Usage

This dataset is ideal for various analytical and predictive tasks, including:
  • Identifying the most influential factors affecting life expectancy.
  • Analysing the relationship between healthcare expenditure and lifespan in countries with lower life expectancy.
  • Investigating how infant and adult mortality rates impact life expectancy.
  • Exploring the correlation between lifestyle factors, such as alcohol consumption, and life expectancy.
  • Examining the effect of education and immunisation coverage on population health outcomes.

Coverage

The dataset covers 193 countries over the time period from 2000 to 2015.
