About

This dataset provides country-wise CO2 emission data to the environment from 1750 to 2022. It aims to assist researchers and environmental experts in predicting global warming trends and helping countries establish targets to reduce yearly emissions.

Columns

  • Country: The name of the country.
  • Code: A two-letter symbolic code for each country.
  • Calling Code: The international calling code for every country.
  • Year: The specific year of the recorded CO2 emission.
  • CO2 emission (Tons): The amount of carbon dioxide emitted, measured in tons.
  • Population(2022): The population of the country recorded in 2022.
  • Area: The land area of that country in square kilometres (km2).
  • % of World: The percentage of the world's landmass that this country covers.
  • Density(km2): The population density according to Area in km2.

Distribution

The dataset is typically provided as a CSV file (CO2 emission by countries.csv) and has a size of 3.16 MB. It comprises 9 columns and approximately 59,600 records. Some columns contain missing data: 'Code' (3% missing), 'Calling Code' (6% missing), 'Population(2022)' (11% missing), 'Area' (7% missing), '% of World' (7% missing), and 'Density(km2)' (11% missing).

Usage

  • Global warming prediction: Utilise historical CO2 emission data to model future climate change scenarios.
  • Environmental policy formulation: Aid countries in setting and monitoring goals for annual emission reductions.
  • Research and analysis: Support studies on environmental impact, energy consumption patterns, and their correlation with country demographics and size.
  • Educational purposes: Illustrate trends in CO2 emissions over centuries for academic studies.

Coverage

  • Geographic Scope: Data spans across 220 unique countries.
  • Time Range: Covers the period from 1750 to 2022, with detailed yearly emissions.
  • Demographic Aspects: Includes country population data for 2022, as well as area and density metrics.
