This collection of data represents the results for all students who sat the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Undergraduate examination in 2024. The data was compiled into a single structure to facilitate analysis, addressing the initial release method by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which published center-wise results in PDF format that is challenging to process directly. The creation of this structured data followed a directive from the Supreme Court of India, requiring the release of results for data analysis purposes while ensuring student privacy by masking original Roll Numbers. This dataset includes records gathered from 4750 examination centers.
Columns
The dataset contains 6 columns:
- dummy_srlno: A masked Student ID that retains the correct center number, used in place of the actual Roll Number.
- marks: The total marks scored by the student in the examination. Scores span a range from -180 to 720.
- state: The name of the state associated with the student's examination center.
- city: The name of the city where the examination center was located.
- center_name: The name of the specific testing center. This field includes 4403 unique names, with common entries such as DAV PUBLIC SCHOOL and DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL.
- center_number: The unique identifier for the examination center.
Distribution
The data is provided in a single CSV file, titled
NEET_2024_RESULTS.csv, with a file size of 177.11 MB. It contains 2,333,120 student records in total. The structural integrity is high, with 100% valid, 0% mismatched, and 0% missing values across all fields. Updates to this specific dataset are not expected.Usage
This data product is ideally suited for various analytical applications. It supports detailed Data Visualization, allowing users to map score distributions and regional trends. It is excellent for Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) of standardised testing performance. Researchers can use it to study score correlation with geographic factors like state and city.
Coverage
The data covers the results for the NEET UG 2024 examination. Geographically, the scope includes India, reflecting results from centers across 38 unique states. The most represented states are UTTAR PRADESH (14%) and MAHARASHTRA (12%). The most frequent city represented is DELHI/NEW DELHI (3%). It includes the scores of every student who appeared in the test.
