Columns

  • Student ID: A unique identification number assigned to each student. Values range from approximately 100,000 to 1,000,000.
  • Student Name: The name of the student. There are approximately 120,038 unique names, with 'Michael Smith' being the most common.
  • Date of Birth: The student's birth date, ranging from 31st May 1997 to 29th May 2006.
  • Field of Study: The academic discipline or department in which the student is enrolled. Common fields include Electrical Engineering and Chemical Engineering, each representing 20% of the dataset, with other fields making up the remaining 60%. There are 5 unique fields of study.
  • Year of Admission: The year in which the student was admitted to the IIT, ranging from 2016 to 2022.
  • Expected Year of Graduation: The anticipated year of the student's graduation, with dates ranging from 2017 to 2023.
  • Current Semester: The current semester or academic term the student is enrolled in, ranging from 1 to 4.
  • Specialization: The specific area of focus or specialisation chosen by the student within their field of study. Web Development and Machine Learning are common, each representing 20% of the dataset, with other specialisations making up 60%. There are 5 unique specialisations.
  • Fees: The tuition fees or cost associated with the student's education. Fees range from 50,000 to 200,000, with a mean of 125,000.
  • Discount on Fees: The discount amount or reduction applied to the student's tuition fees. Discounts range from 0 to approximately 39,865, with a mean of 12,500.

This dataset comprises 200,000 student records. It is distributed as a data file, typically in CSV format, and is specifically available as student_data.csv with a file size of 19.04 MB. It includes all 10 described columns with no missing or mismatched values.
