This dataset captures tweets pertaining to the new Covid-19 variant, Omicron. The tweets were collected daily using the Twitter API and a Python script, specifically targeting the high-frequency hashtag #Omicron. Columns

  • is_retweet: A boolean indicating if the tweet is a retweet (all entries in this dataset are original tweets).

Distribution

The dataset is provided in CSV format and is approximately 6.82 MB in size. It contains 16 distinct columns and consists of approximately 17,000 individual tweet records.

Usage

This dataset is ideal for a variety of analytical tasks, including diving into topics associated with the #Omicron hashtag, examining the geographical spread of discussions, evaluating public sentiment, and observing emerging trends related to the Covid-19 Omicron variant.

Coverage

The data collection commenced on 30th November 2021 and continued on a daily basis. The tweets predominantly feature the #Omicron hashtag.
