About
This dataset provides a detailed list of the 50 most-subscribed YouTube channels globally, offering a valuable snapshot of the platform's top content creators and their reach as of early 2023. The ability for users to subscribe to channels was introduced in October 2005, with YouTube starting to publish lists of its most-subscribed channels in April 2006.
The dataset includes information on channel names, their subscriber counts in millions, primary languages, content categories, and countries of origin. It excludes automatically generated channels and those rendered obsolete by content transfers. As of February 2023, a significant portion of the channels produce content in English (21 channels) and Hindi (16 channels). All 50 channels have surpassed 40 million subscribers, with many exceeding 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100 million subscribers. Notably, only one channel, T-Series, had surpassed 200 million subscribers at that time.
