About

Providing detailed insights into the state of media freedom across 180 nations and territories globally. The data evaluates the ability of journalists, both individually and collectively, to select, produce, and disseminate news that serves the public interest. This assessment is conducted independent of political, economic, legal, and social interference, and in the absence of threats to their physical or mental safety. The goal of the data is to allow users to analyse global rankings and scores of press freedom from 2019 through 2022. The scoring system assigns a score ranging from 0 to 100 to each country or territory, where a lower Global Score indicates a better rank for a country. The final Global Score is derived by combining the Underlying Situation Score and the Abuse Score.

  • Ranking: The country's global rank (from 1 to 180).
